Tokyo International Airport

Since the opening of its second terminal building, increased traffic has made Tokyo International Airport (also known as "Haneda Airport"), Tokyo's gateway to the sky, even more convenient. Here, TOA's "Passenger Announcement System" provides travelers with flight status information, by automatically broadcasting pre-recorded messages using the voice file unit or by broadcasting flight information over the intercom system in real-time. The facility's "sound matrix" allows relevant information to be broadcast in the specific areas where it is needed. Further, announcements made from the traveler service center in Terminal One can also be distributed via the IP network for remote broadcast in Terminal Two. Combining information and communication technologies in this way helps ensure the smooth, effective conveyance of important messages. Further, in the event of fire or other disaster, a TOA public address system swings into action, immediately switching to the Emergency Broadcast System to offer information needed to help ensure the safety of travelers, airport employees, and others. Through such systems,TOA supports an environment that helps people use the airport facilities smoothly and with greater reassurance and peace of mind.

Washington, D.C. Metro 7000-series rail car

New 7000-series railway cars (manufactured by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd.) have begun operation on some of the metro subway lines linking the U.S. capital of Washington, D.C. with its surrounding suburbs. Besides offering more seating than before, these train cars are also equipped with door-side electronic route maps that display easy-to-read destination and station information. Designed with the goal of making metro travel safer and more comfortable, many of the informational features of these train cars are supported by TOA technology, including electronic displays showing route and destination information inside and outside the train; public address systems used by conductors to broadcast announcements throughout their trains; and onboard safety-enhancing surveillance camera systems.

The renovated north wing of Narita Airport's original Passenger Terminal 1 and a new extension to its central building were recently opened with more spacious and colorful service facilities and shopping areas. TOA supplied the airport's advanced, high-tech information system, which features nearly 5,000 speakers discreetly integrated into the surrounding décor. An automatic control system assures swift and accurate broadcast of boarding announcements and other information to optimize airport efficiency and ensure safer, more comfortable and more convenient travel.

Japan's largest underground bicycle park was constructed as part of an overall bicycle control program aimed at both promoting the use of bicycles and eradicating parked and abandoned bicycles obstructing the city's pedestrian areas. Tree-type speakers are installed in close proximity to passengers and an automatic volume/tone control system instantly detects changes in noise levels to maintain broadcasts at an easily heard volume throughout the facility.
